In confirming my telegram of this date, I have the

honour to ask Your Excellency again the kindness to remove

whatever measures that Your Excellency may not hold as

absolutely mecessary and which may prejudice the commeros and

habitual life of this Colony.

I should explain as regards cholera, in one of its

most attenuated forms, of which there is almost no fear of danger

of transmission of direct infection.

This attezuated fern of cholera, as well as other

diseases of the digestive organ, such as the enteric and tha

typhoid fever, is andamio in Maoso; and every year there are

It is the fact that in the current year the number of casbe is

readily higher, which is sasily justified by the extraordinary

increase in the number of immigrants, more than 80,000 Chinese
